My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge: Laurel’s Dream by Pepper D. Basham

Sigh.

Like, seriously.

After reading this book, a piece of my heart is definitely in Maple Springs, back in time, deep in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains.

My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge:  Laurel’s Dream by Pepper Basham was immediately engaging.  Her love for the Appalachian people and their history is present through her vivid storytelling.

The lead characters each had their own remarkably strong voice.  I could hear them in my head as I read their words and their thoughts.  I love when that happens!

As I look back through my notes I took while reading this book, I see I wrote the word “charming” a lot.  This was definitely a charming book.  Laurel McAdams charmed me with her spirit, her vibrant stories and her loyalty to her community.  Jonathan Taylor charmed me with his patience, his faith and his determination to see Laurel’s dreams come true.

This was a love story, but it wasn’t just a love story between two people (which, by the way, could not have fallen into place more perfectly than it did).  This was also a love story with the mountains and seeking one’s true home.

Laurel and Jonathan’s tale was not without major hurts and setbacks.  The twists and turns this story took me on were emotional and gripping and absolutely kept the pages turning!

This story ended on a beautiful note, but not without questions on the outcomes for some supporting characters.  I’m hoping there are connecting stories later down the road because I kinda need to know what happens to a few people.  (Ahem.)

You wanna know a secret?  This was my first Pepper Basham book.  This story was beautiful and I’m so glad I read it!

Five Huge Stars and I totally recommend this book!  My Heart Belongs in the Blue Ridge:  Laurel’s Dream is available January 1, 2019.  Pre-order your copy today from Christian Book Distributors  because this is one book you don’t want to miss!
